The meeting with General Mirosław Hermaszewski, the first Pole to see the Earth from the outer space, took place in the building of the Faculty of Biology and Animal Science on 3 December 2009.

Nearly PLN10m for New Faculties – the Department of Bioinformatics and the Department of Production Management and Engineering

The University of Environmental and Life Sciences in Wrocław will receive nearly PLN10m in funding from the European Social Fund (ESF) for the creation of new departments - Bioinformatics and Production Management and Engineering. The goal of the project is also to improve the qualifications of research and teaching staff, which means that members of our staff will be attending research training in reputable academic centers both in Poland and abroad.

Measurements in Bear Cave in Kletno

Scientists from Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences and Wrocław University of Technology, equipped with two specialist laser scanners, have scanned parts of Bear Cave in Kletno.

EVSSAR Symposium

On June the 6th 2009 the University of Environmental and Life Sciences hosted the 6th EVSSAR Annual Symposium. This was in fact the 12th meeting in a row involving the EVSSAR since it's foundation.

Designing „without barriers”

What should be done in order to make landscape architects design green areas that are accessible to disabled people? In what way can we stimulate imagination and sensitivity? How can we recognize what creates barriers for a wheelchair?

Bioactive substances in eggs


Scientists, have started the scientific project dedicated to finding and examining bioactive substances in eggs. These compounds are treated as diet supplements and could be used to prevent lifestyle diseases, including dementia, heart and blood pressure diseases and cancer. The project "Innovative technology for producing specimens from a new generation of eggs" is being realized by a scientific consortium created by the Environment and the Medical Universities in Wrocław.

Two silver medals and a special prize at the 37th International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva

At the 37th International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva, which took place from 1st to 5th April 2009, a team from the Institute of Animal Breeding, led by Professor Bożena Patkowska-Sokoła, won two silver medals for scientific research and a special prize from the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA).

Certificate ISO 9001:2000 for the Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences

The Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences has been audited by the DEKRA Co. and received the recommendation of the auditors for the prolongation of ISO 9001:2000 - the international certificate of quality management.

Visit of Experts from E.A.E.V.E.

A group of experts from the European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (E.A.E.V.E.) has visited our University. The main goal of the visit was to evaluate the teaching process of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
